DWI

IT IS OF THE UTMOST MPORTANCE THAT YOU MEET WITH AN ATTORNEY WITHIN 15 DAYS OF THE DATE OF YOUR DWI ARREST.

The attorneys at Eng and Woods vigorously defend their clients against driving while intoxicated charges. We have successfully acquitted those charged with vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated, boating while intoxicated, and vehicular assault. We constantly present DWI cases to judges and juries, and our courtroom experience is second to none in Columbia, Missouri. We continuously strive to achieve the best results for out clients, whether it be reduced or outright dismissals.

While we wish we could win every single DWI case, sometimes we cannot. A lawyer who guarantees you results at your initial consultation is a lawyer you don’t want to hire. We will do the best we can using our considerable experience and expertise to get you the best possible result.

It is important to remember that in Missouri, there are two aspects to every DWI case. There is the criminal aspect, which is the actual charge of driving while intoxicated and may be charged as City v. John Doe or State v. Jon Doe, etc. There is also the civil aspect of a DWI charge as the State of Missouri Department of Revenue will try to suspend your driver’s license for a period of time. Most likely the arresting officer gave you a piece of paper from the Missouri Department of Revenue—this is for the civil case. You should bring all of the papers you received from your arrest with you to your free initial consultation.

IT IS OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE THAT YOU MEET WITH AN ATTORNEY WITHIN 15 DAYS OF THE DATE OF YOUR DWI ARREST.

Failing to retain an attorney within 15 days of the date of your DWI arrest will result in the automatic suspension of your driver’s license. Our attorneys fight driver’s license suspension proceedings and save clients’ driving privileges whenever possible.

At Eng and Woods, our attorneys challenge both the civil and criminal aspects of DWI cases by vigorously preparing for all hearings. We will not “walk through” the hearings to process your case.

Our focus is on thorough preparation through extensive investigation, interviewing, witness preparation, discovery requests, pretrial motions, and motions to suppress evidence. In short, if there is a challenge to be made, we will make it.

Our DWI attorneys are extensively trained in what to look for so if good facts exist, we will find them. DWI penalties continue to become more serious—it is very important to hire an attorney whose practice is devoted to defending DWI clients.

Unfortunately, the days of a DWI being swept under the rug by any practicing attorney are gone. At Eng and Woods, we have attorneys who are devoted to defending DWI’s.

Many attorneys will charge you a minimal rate to appear once for a criminal hearing and not prepare, investigate, or challenge your case. Some of those attorneys will try to make you or convince you to plead guilty. We will give you our informed legal advice but, at Eng and Woods, the choice as to whether to plead guilty or try a case is yours and yours alone.

We understand that this is a tough time you are going through right now. Please let us help. Call 573-874-4190 to schedule your free consultation.
