Patrick J. Eng
Senior Partner
Attorney Pat Eng has been practicing law in Columbia, Missouri since 1973. He has applied legal proficiency to a variety of cases and focuses his practice on criminal law.
Pat is a respected trial attorney who has tried more than 100 cases to conclusion in civil and criminal courts. Pat has tried jury cases in over 20 Missouri counties and has been involved in cases in the majority of counties in Missouri. He has also appeared in and first chaired jury trials in federal courts throughout the state. Pat also successfully tried a case that was featured on Court TV, which was highlighted by commentary by Nancy Grace. When Pat is not in the courtroom, he strives to educate fellow attorneys on the finer points of trial litigation. He provides his insight to CLE programs run by the Missouri Bar Association and Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Pat has excelled in his legal career and has an excellent reputation as a professional and fair attorney. Pat was selected by his peers to receive the Super Lawyer Award for Missouri and Kansas in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. He was also named one of "Columbia's Top Lawyers" in 2009. Pat is a past president of the Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and has served on their board of directors for more than 30 years. For his efforts in the courtroom, Pat has received the organization's Charles Shaw Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy and the Bob Duncan Award for Appellate Advocacy. Pat has also served as president of the Boone County Bar Association in 2006.
In addition to his work in the legal arena, Pat serves on the board of directors of Alternative Community Training (ACT), a "sheltered workshop" where his middle child is a "consumer."
A Boone County, Missouri local, Pat served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1967 and supports many veterans' organizations. He is a long-time supporter and fan of Mizzou athletics.

Matthew B. Woods

Attorney Matt Woods is a focused personal injury and workers compensation attorney as well as an excellent litigator in the courtroom. He is a Boone County native, a graduate of Rock Bridge High School and completed his business degree at Mizzou. He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law in Columbia in 1987. Matt is also the father of three children.

Douglas F. Pugh

For nearly two decades, attorney Doug Pugh has focused his practice in all areas of family law including divorce, paternity, child custody, legal separation, modifications of existing orders and name changes. He is a Boone County native and a graduate of Columbia's Hickman High School. Doug received his undergraduate degree in Journalism and his law degree from the University of Missouri School of Law, and remains a Mizzou supporter and avid fan of Tiger athletics. He joined Eng & Woods as an associate in 1994 after serving as an administrative judge for the State of Missouri, and has now been a partner in the firm for more than ten years.
Doug, his wife and his two children are lifelong residents of Boone County. He is also well-known in the local community for serving as master of ceremonies and spokesperson for numerous major charitable events, and writes a bi-weekly humor column for the Columbia Daily Tribune, “Homeboy,” which recounts his childhood, education and professional career in Columbia.

Jonathan D. McQuilkin

Attorney Jon McQuilkin focuses on personal injury, workers compensation, car accidents, truck accidents and slip and fall cases. Jon is a Columbia native who graduated from Rock Bridge High School and Columbia College. He has worked with Eng & Woods since 1996 when he started as a clerk during law school. He became an associate attorney after passing the bar and became a partner in 2004. He is active with the Columbia Jaycees and lives in Columbia with his wife.

Andrew Popplewell focuses his practice on DWI defense, general criminal defense, alcohol and drug offenses and traffic violations. Andrew grew up and worked on a fifth-generation family farm where he learned early on the importance of personal responsibility and work ethic. In 2001, Andrew graduated from the University of Missouri with a B.S. in Agriculture Economics. He began working for Eng & Woods in 2002 while still in law school and joined the firm as an associate in May 2005. Andrew became a partner with Eng & Woods in January 2010. He is an active member of The Missouri Bar, the Boone County Bar Association and both the Missouri and National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Andrew Popplewell successfully handles more than 100 DWI cases yearly, while giving each client the attention they deserve. He has successfully tried multiple cases to both judge and jury resulting in not-guilty verdicts for his clients throughout the state of Missouri. Furthermore, he fights for all of his clients accused of crimes, contesting multiple cases monthly. Andrew obtained certification by the Department of Transportation to administer Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, a necessity for cross-examining arresting officers. Finally, he is one of only two attorneys in Columbia to attain membership in the prestigious National College for DUI Defense.

Adam Dowling

Attorney Adam Dowling's practice includes the defense of those charged with felony and misdemeanor crimes, including homicides, sex crimes, drug crimes, weapons crimes, property crimes and white-collar crimes. He was raised in Montgomery City, Missouri, and graduated from Montgomery County R-II High School in 1999. In 2003, he received his bachelor's degree in Biology from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. Adam began working with Eng & Woods as a law clerk in 2005 and joined the firm as an associate attorney in 2006. Adam lives in Columbia, Missouri, along with his wife and daughters.

Ashley is a graduate of Rock Bridge Senior High School in Columbia, Missouri.
